✅ “What Is Satin and How to Create It in Studio”
Satin is a smooth, glossy fabric with a signature mirror-like shine. It looks luxurious, highlights folds beautifully, reflects light, and is often used in evening gowns, corsets, decorative elements, accessories, and headpieces.
Its main feature is strong contrast between deep shadows and rich, luminous highlights.
Today we’ll create a realistic satin effect in Pocket Styler Studio.
🧵 Step 1. Open the project and select the fabric
Go to Properties → Fabric.
Open the silk category and set Texture and Transparency to maximum — this gives the smooth, glossy surface we need for satin.
Choose the base color you want.

🪄 Step 2. What happens with standard shadows
If you leave the default shadows, the fabric will look flat, like in my example: the highlights are too white, and the shadows lack depth. Satin requires a stronger contrast.

🌑 Step 3. Adjust the shadows manually
Take the same hue as your base color and shift it into a much darker tone.
Examples:
blue base → dark navy shadow
green base → deep green shadow
This creates the rich contrast typical for satin.

💡 Step 4. Adjust the highlights
Go to Properties → Highlights.
Instead of pure white, choose a very light version of your base color.
Examples:
blue → pale blue highlights
red → soft pinkish highlights

This creates a natural, expensive-looking shine.
✨ Step 5. Add contrast and luminous reflections
To enhance the satin effect:
use a dark brush to deepen the folds,
use a light brush (a light tone of the base color, NOT white) to add bright reflective points.
This makes the fabric shine correctly — smooth, glossy, and vibrant.
