Creating a Transparent Mesh on a Top
Sometimes you want to add an interesting effect on the upper part of clothing without changing the base shape. Today, I’ll show you how to create a transparent mesh that can be placed over a crop top, T-shirt, or blouse.
🔹 Step 1. New layer for the mesh
Open your project with the top (crop top or base upper).
Go to the Details tab → add an empty shape.
Why empty? Because the fabric will be transparent, and only the mesh pattern will be visible.
🔹 Step 2. Shape the top
Switch to Points mode and use points to create the silhouette of your future top.
🔹 Step 3. Apply the pattern
Go to the Pattern tab → choose a mesh style.
Keep the color black.
Use the Transform button to adjust the size and rotation of the pattern so it fits harmoniously on the shape.
> Important: leave the fabric of this shape transparent.
🔹 Step 4. Set color and trim
Go to the shape’s properties → Outline → set 100% and choose black.
In the Edge tab, add black trim to the top and bottom of the detail.
🔹 Step 5. Work on the back view
Uncheck the “Model” property.
Switch to the back layer of the top → add a new detail through the Details tab.
Using the empty shape and Points mode, create a repeating mesh pattern for the back.
Copy all properties from the front mesh to the back layer.
