Adding a Tie with the Built-in Function on the Upper Clothing
A tie is an accessory that we always place on the upper part of clothing: whether it’s a sweater, a shirt, or a vest. It instantly adds a sense of formality, elegance, or even a touch of playfulness if you choose the right fabric and pattern. In menswear, it emphasizes a business style, while in womenswear it can become a bold accent or a fashionable detail.
🔹 Step 1. Open the base
Open a project with the upper part of clothing (for example, a sweater or a shirt) where you want to add the tie.
🔹 Step 2. Choose the shape
Go to the Details tab → scroll down to the tie shapes.
You’ll see 3 options — for this tutorial, let’s pick the third one.
🔹 Step 3. Adjust the shape
Place the tie on the clothing.
If it doesn’t match in length or width, switch to Points mode and adjust its form to fit your design.
🔹 Step 4. Color and fabric
Set the tie to a matching color and fabric so it blends well with the outfit.
Then open the Pattern tab and select a print (stripes, checks, polka dots) — this will make the piece instantly more realistic.
🔹 Step 5. Shadows and highlights
If you’d like to add more depth:
use a dark brush along the edges of the tie,
add light highlights in the center.
This gives the fabric a three-dimensional effect.
🔹 Step 6. Shadows on the clothing
Return to the main clothing layer (sweater or shirt) and add soft shadows where the tie touches the fabric.
This way, the accessory won’t look “pasted on” but like a real part of the outfit.
✨ Tip: A tie isn’t only for classic looks. Try making it a bold accent — for example, on a sporty sweater or in a women’s outfit. A contrasting tie can become a stylish detail that breaks the rules and creates a fresh, unusual vibe.
