✨ Cylinder Hat ✨
(Guide to creating a cylinder hat with straight brim)
What is it?
A cylinder hat is a tall hat with straight brims facing down. Often used in theatrical costumes or formal looks. Unlike other hats, the brim doesn’t curve upward, and the crown remains perfectly vertical.
🔹 Step 1. New Project
Open a new project via the Hats tab.
In the Crown tab, choose the top of the hat — the first option in the middle.
In the Brim tab, select the shape of the hat brim.
🔹 Step 2. Shape Creation
Switch to Points mode.
For the crown: form a straight cylinder.
For the brim: create straight brims facing down.
🔹 Step 3. Color and Fabric
Turn off all shadow properties and set them to 0.
Select the crown and set a red fabric color.
Copy the fabric from the crown onto the brim.
🔹 Step 4. Edge Line and Light/Shade
In the Lines tab, add an edge line at the top of the crown.
Use a dark brush to draw shadows along the sides.
Use a light brush to add highlights in the middle and top.
Also, lightly go over the brim with the light brush.
🔹 Step 5. Decorative Ribbon
Go to the Details tab → add a ribbon shape.
Switch to Points mode → adjust the shape.
Set a light fabric color.
Use light and dark brushes to add shadows and highlights on the ribbon.
🔹 Step 6. Additional Shadows (optional)
If desired, enable shadow properties and draw extra shadows for more depth.
✨ Result:
You will have a classic cylinder hat with straight brims, a neat edge line, and a decorative ribbon.
