How to use the Brush to write on a top

The most important thing to remember when adding writing on a top is to use the Guidelines! The model in the game is facing at an angle, so it can be difficult to find the center of her top. Thankfully Studio has lines that show how to find the center and how to make something straight across the top, you just have to turn them on.

Start with a top, I set it as white and cotton by hitting “select all” at the top of the layers, and then under “fabric” selecting white and cotton. Then I turned on the guidelines by selecting “Guidelines” under “Model” on the right:

Now it’s just like being in grade school, writing within the lines! Go to “Torso” and to “Brush” under Layers on the right. Then select the pencil icon on the left and go to “Brush.” The default size is too large to write anything, but you can overwrite it and set it to anywhere from size 3-7:

Then start to paint on the top using the lines to guide you! When using the paint tool, you can hold down the “shift” key to draw a straight line:

When using the brush tool, the “undo” button at the bottom is extra useful! If you mess up a line or don’t like the curve of a letter, hit “undo” and start the letter again.

Following the lines will make the text look off center from our view, but it will center it on the model in the game, making it look more realistic.
