🪡 Let’s talk about seams: Method 1 — Line
A seam is a visible line of stitches that mimics how real clothes are sewn together. In Pocket Styler Studio, seams help add realism, structure, and visual depth — especially when you want your design to look like real fabric rather than a flat surface.
I use three main methods to create seams in my designs:
1. Using the Line tool
2. Using Brushes
3. Using Shapes in Details
Today, we’ll focus on the first method — using lines. It’s clean, simple, and works especially well for symmetrical, straight, or slightly curved seams.
✂️ When is the Line tool useful?
It’s especially handy when:
✔️ You need a neat, precise seam
✔️ You’re working on a small area (like darts, panel seams, or bust lines)
✔️ You want to quickly create symmetry
You can easily adjust thickness, color, opacity, and even add shadow or highlight to enhance the effect.
🧵 How to create a seam with the Line tool
1. Add a line to your layer
Open the clothing part you’re working on (e.g. Skirt → Front), go to the Line tab, tap +, and start drawing.
2. Draw the seam
Place a straight or curved line where the seam should go. Follow the natural shape of the garment.
3. Customize the style
Choose a fitting line style (dashed, double, etc.). Pick a color that’s slightly lighter or darker than the fabric. Adjust thickness and opacity — thin and soft lines usually look more natural.
4. Refine the shape
Use the control points to curve, stretch, or rotate the line for a perfect fit.
5. Add shadow and highlight
Enable Shadow and Light to give your seam more depth. Keep it subtle for realism.
📌 This method works best for:
Structured skirts and dresses
Coats and blazers
Decorative seams on bodices or waistlines
