Folds are a great detail that can be added onto clothing to add realism.
When making shirts, adding folds on the side of the model as well as under the bust.
The placement of folds will give the shirt a different effect. For this top, I wanted it to have a more relaxed, but fitted look. To achieve this, I added folds at the bottom of the shirt and a few on the sides.
With folds, it’s important to resize, rotate and adjust transparency/opacity so it’s not very harsh. On top of the folds, I use a brush to help make the folds appear more apparent.

Folds can also be used to help create a draping effect depending on the placement as well as the torso shape.
