Highlights in Studio — How They Work

📌 A quick guide for beginners

🖌️ 1. What is a highlight?

A highlight is a light effect that adds depth and realism to your fabric. It makes satin shine, leather glow, and metallic textures pop.

⚙️ 2. Where to find it?

The Highlight property is automatically created for every layer.

When you start a new project, the app adds both a shadow and a highlight to all base layers by default — no need to add them manually.

🧰 3. How to edit the highlight manually

▪ Click on the desired layer

▪ Select the Highlight property

▪ Go to the Drawing Tools tab (top-left corner)

▪ You’ll see two tools:

 — Brush — to paint highlights by hand

 — Eraser — to remove them

▪ A pop-up will let you adjust the opacity and color

💡 Tip

Not every fabric needs highlights — matte textures like wool or cotton often look better without them. In other cases, custom highlights can bring depth to folds and edges.
