Simple Off Shoulder Poncho

The first thing to know about ponchos is that they don’t have their own design category. Start with a template for a jacket or coat, and then you’ll select “poncho” when you export it to the game.

Since I’m making a poncho that is one piece that drapes over the shoulders, I’m going to choose a “open sleeved jacket” as a starting point. (Closed sleeve can work also, but the template is more limited in how short you can make the item.)

I’m going to make the poncho using shapes over the basic structure. So I’ll make the template transparent, but I’ll move the points of the template to where they will be hidden by the shape.

Select all and click “Fabric.” Turn the “Color Opacity” and “Texture Opacity” down to 0. You can click “OK” on the warning message, as we’ll be covering the body with the shapes. Turn “All Shadows,” “All Outlines,” and “All Glares” down to 0.

Go into “Right Torso” and select the tee shirt icon on the upper left, then “Details.” The red shape in the top right will give the most flexibility.

Turn on the toggle on the upper right to show the points. You can also add points using the “+” at the top to give more positions to change the shape. Use those points to line up with the models left shoulder, and drape across the body.

Go into the “Right Shoulder” and add a shape to cover the arm through “Details,” the same way we did with the torso.

Drag the points so they line up with the shape over the torso.

Click “Select All” on the right side, and unclick everything but the two shapes that we added. Then you can go into “Selected” > “Fabric” to pick the fabric and color.

Select “Poncho” when exporting the item to the game:

Play around with colors, textures, patterns, and shadows. But this will give the basic structure!
