1. Choose Your Template
Start a new project and select the Tops or Outerwear category. Look for templates labeled as Vests or Sleeveless Jackets.
Top Category: Best for thin, “waistcoat” style vests.
Outerwear Category: Best for bulky puffer vests or longline duster vests.
2. Define the Neckline and Hem
Use the Points and Lines tool to customize the silhouette.
V-Neck: Perfect for a classic, formal waistcoat.
High Collar: Ideal for a sporty or winter puffer vest.
Asymmetrical Hem: Use the Curved line tool to create a modern, high-low hemline that gives the vest a designer edge.
3. Select the Material
The fabric choice completely changes the vest’s purpose:
Tailored Look: Choose a “Suiting” or “Wool” texture with low gloss.
Puffer/Sporty: Choose a “Nylon” or “Synthetic” material and increase the Gloss and Reflectivity to give it a tech-wear shine.
Denim: Use a high-grain denim texture for a casual, layered look.
4. Create 3D “Volume” (The Puffer Effect)
If you are making a puffer vest, it needs to look “inflated.”
Create horizontal layers using the Line tool.
Add Shadows just below each horizontal line and Highlights (Glares) in the center of each “puff” section. This creates the illusion of 3D depth and thickness.
5. Add Functional Details
Vests rely on “hardware” to look realistic:
Buttons/Zippers: Use the Shape tool to add a row of small circles for buttons or a long vertical line with a metal texture for a zipper.
Pockets: Add square or rectangular shapes on the lower front. Don’t forget to add a faint shadow at the bottom of the pocket to make it “pop” off the fabric.
Armhole Binding: Add a thin line of a slightly different shade around the arm openings to simulate reinforced stitching.
6. Layering Check
Since vests are often worn over other clothes, use the 3D Preview to check the “Fit” settings. Ensure the armholes are wide enough so that they don’t clip through the long-sleeved shirts or sweaters a player might wear underneath.
7. Name and Publish
Give your vest a name that reflects its style (e.g., “Silver City Puffer Vest” or “Evergreen Tailored Waistcoat”), set your gem price, and Publish to the Studio to start earning rewards!
