👕 How to Create Base Shadows for a Fitted Top in Pocket Styler Studio

The program comes with standard templates for tops, but to work more advanced, it’s better to learn how to create them yourself. Here, I’ll show you how to create base shadows for a fitted top. Once you have a base, you can reuse it every time — open your project and refine the shirt, top, or tank as needed.

On the reference image, you can see how the basic shadow looks on a top. There’s another option, but it’s not exactly what we want. I’ll show how to create a neater version with details highlighted.

🔹 Step 1. Prepare the Project

1. Open your project and reset all shadows and highlights to 0.

2. Set a base color for your top.

3. To make drawing easier, make the fabric slightly transparent so you can see where the shadows will fall.

🔹 Step 2. Add Shadows

1. As shown in the reference image, shadows go under the bust and along the sides.

2. Take a dark brush and carefully paint in these areas.

3. Then, take the same brush, make it slightly softer and larger, and repeat along the same areas.

4. Use a light brush to highlight certain sections along the sides to create a natural volume and depth.

✨ Result

You’ll have a base for a fitted top with shadows that accentuate folds and curves. This foundation makes further edits and refinements much easier, giving your top a realistic and polished look.
