Adding a Buckle to a Belt

Today we’ll go through a more advanced method of creating a buckle so that your belt looks realistic and three-dimensional.

🔹 Step 1. Create the base

Open any belt project.

Go to the Details tab → choose a circle.

Set it to white (for example, #ffffff) — this will be the base of the buckle.

Since the belt is gray, the circle will stand out right away.

🔹 Step 2. Add the belt tail

1. Open the Details tab again → choose a square.

2. Switch to Points mode and transform the square into a stretched “tail,” as if the belt is passing through the buckle.

3. Move this layer under the circle (buckle).

🔹 Step 3. Match the fabric

Copy the fabric from the main belt → paste it onto the “tail.”

Now the tail and the belt will look like one piece.

🔹 Step 4. Add shadows

1. Create a new layer with a dark brush.

2. Add shadows inside the circle, where the belt passes under the buckle.

3. Go to the belt layer and add a soft shadow where the buckle touches the belt.

🔹 Step 5. Refine the details

You can stop here, but for extra realism:

use built-in elements (like small ovals or lines) to mark metallic parts of the buckle;

refine the shadows around the circle and tail for more depth.

✨ The result is a belt with a realistic buckle and a sense of volume.
