Adding leg detail/garter to a dress

I found this drawing of a dress on pinterest and loved the leg detail, so I decided I wanted to add something like this to one of my dress designs.


After creating the dress silhouette that I wanted, I then added a transparent square over the area where I wanted the leg detail. You can find the square by clicking the t-shirt icon on the left, then clicking into “details”, and selecting the shape you want. I wanted mine to be transparent because you will not want to see this square in your design.

 

Now that I have this square, I can use a brush directly on it without being constrained by the lines of the dress silhouette. 


I started with a basic brush in a small size.


PRO TIP: if you hold shift while painting with the brush, it draws a straight line! I use this EVERY time I use a brush to keep my designs neat!

So for the base design I held shift and created a series of straight lines.

To finish the design and add a sparkle, I switched to the sparkle brush in white:
