To create a top using shapes, select the shirt template. Keep in mind that some templates have different restrictions.

For this post, I’m doing a sweater. I don’t like to use the templates for sweaters since I have less control over shaping.

1. Once selected, set the “Torso” layer to the desired shape/style. Turn on guidelines under “Model” for a a good fit.

2. For the arms, I am going to select the “Right upper sleeve” and set all properties to zero. Do the same for the upper sleeve, back sleeve and all of the left sleeve options.

Select the right upper sleeve (or lower), navigate to “Details” and select a shape. The two circled are easiest to shape for me.

3. Shape the now placed “shape” in the style of your liking. To shape, I recommend lowering the “color” under the “fabric” option. This will allow you to see the model and accurately form the shape.

Using “small points” will give a more precise shape.

4. Change the color, shadows and glare to your liking. Use the brush tool to add more shadow or glare effects.

5. Add “folds” and change the transparency for added realism.
