Shadows & Highlights — What’s the Difference?

📌 Understanding these two essential properties

🖤 Shadow adds depth by simulating areas where light is blocked.

🤍 Highlight adds realism by showing where light hits the surface.

They work best together — shadows define form, highlights bring it to life.

⚙️ Where to find them

When you create a new project, both Shadow and Highlight properties are added automatically to every base layer.

Want to change them?

Just click on the layer → select Shadow or Highlight → go to the Drawing Tools tab to edit them manually

✍️ Manual Editing

Each property includes:

Brush — paint where you want effect

Eraser — remove or soften

Color and Opacity settings — adjust lightness, warmth, transparency

You can create custom lighting by placing shadows and highlights exactly where folds or curves would naturally be.

💡 Tips:

Don’t overuse both! Too much light + shadow can look messy.

For shiny fabrics, boost highlights and keep shadows soft.

For matte fabrics, skip highlights or use them sparingly.
